Discovery had a new promo for Dirty Jobs on last night and I’ve shared it on YouTube. Unfortunately, YouTube didn’t keep the a/v synced up, but it’s still good for a laugh:
We’ve already shown you one video previewing the return of Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe and we now have another thanks to Discovery.
Dirty Jobs returns October 6th on Discovery Channel.
Regular viewers know that Dirty Jobs is returning on October 6th to Discovery with all-new episodes. We now know what that episode will be about. The upcoming episode is named “Mattress Recycler” and Mike will be doing some recycling in San Francisco after first doing some recoveries of boats in Miami, Florida. I can see Mike enjoying this job as he’ll also be able to crush some of those very boats.
Tune in to Dirty Jobs when all-new episodes return October 6th at 9pm EST on Discovery.
As any regular viewer of Dirty Jobs may have recognized, the jobs Mike takes on don’t merely leave you needing a shower, but many of these are very labor intensive jobs. Mike recently answered a viewer’s question about the kinds of injuries he has had.
As a man with a history of back problems, I feel for Mike when he is under strain, trying to lift heavy objects. Lord knows the man could use another set of hands from now and again.
As for what injuries Mike has had, they pretty much run the gambit from bee stings and back pain to infections and smashed toes. But there was one injury that actually scared Mike and just thinking about it scares me just a bit…
“…the scariest was probably the furnace incident. The heat melted my contacts to my eyes, which alarmed me considerably.” – Mike Rowe
That’s a good lesson for everyone. Stay away from furnaces, kids.
So what is Mike and the crew up to, you may ask? Check out this advertisement Discovery ran during the Labor Day Dirty Jobs marathon for an example of one of the dirty jobs Mike is in store for:
I don’t know about you, but I can’t wait for the next bunch of new episodes. They debut October 6th on Discovery.
As the show continues into season five, the Dirty Jobs folks are running low on ideas and need your help. Submit you doing your dirty job and Mike and the crew will come and meet you.
Check out Mike over on YouTube to learn more.
I think if they had waited any longer to shoot this, they’d have to go nightvision cameras. Check out the video and see what I mean.
Loyal followers of this site already know that Mike Rowe and the Dirty Jobs crew will be returning to Discovery with all-new episodes in October, but now we know it’s October 6th and that Mike has quite an adventure planned for the show’s return.
Get it straight from Discovery:
The world’s most sought-after guinea pig for all things dirty, grimy and messy returns to Discovery Channel Tuesdays at 9PM ET/PT beginning October 6th, for 11 all-new episodes of the Emmy-nominated series DIRTY JOBS. In the continuation of season five, host and creator Mike Rowe travels the country to showcase the downright dirty jobs that most people would go out of their way to avoid. From toilet crushers to maple syrup processors to camel ranchers, Mike serves as apprentice to the hard-working and skilled men and women who make civilized life possible for the rest of us each and every day.
Since the series first debuted in 2005, DIRTY JOBS has provided an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at more than 200 dirty jobs (and counting!) – in industries ranging from construction to sanitation to manufacturing. In the October 6th premiere episode, Mike will head to Miami, FL to try out marine salvaging, where he’ll work to remove submerged, abandoned boats from the water. He’ll then go to a recycling center in San Francisco to separate the metal, fabric, padding and wood parts of a mattress so each can be made into a new product.
In other premiere episodes this fall, Mike will try his hand at hydrodam mechanics, cedar log peeling, glass making, dung beetle researching and fireworks manufacturing, among various others, adding even more diversity to his extensive resume.
And in other Discovery-related news, MythBusters is returning October 7th with all-new episodes. It’ll be one heck of a week if you ask me.
In the meantime, don’t forget to check out the Labor Day marathon of Dirty Jobs.
