After watching last night’s special episode of Dirty Jobs, “The Dirty Truth”, I found myself eager for more new episodes. The opening bit where Mike Rowe introduces himself included a few pieces of footage that were either new or I simply don’t remember. If it’s my memory that is going (entirely possible at this point), then I may need to go back over the last season or two of episodes. However, if there were some new pieces, then it’s got me all the more psyched about the possibility of there being new episodes this summer.

I enjoyed watching Mike reintroduce us to some of the past characters. My favorite remains Ashley, the mosquito girl. I can’t think of her without thinking of Mike’s insanely direct statement of “You’re not like the other girls.” God bless her for not taking offense to it and instead laughed along with Mike and everyone watching. It remains one of my favorite quotes from the show and there have been some doozies.
When my husband was killed in Iraq, in 2006 it was hard to find humor in a lot of things…until I watched Mike Rowe on a nightly basis. I am not sure if I am like most girls, but I love a guy who can get dirty, possess cerebral wit and uncanny humor… that makes my day!
My son, three at the time, loved sitting beside me as I laughed out loud. He would often say, “mom let’s watch that show that makes you laugh.” After several months of consistently watching the show we attended my cousins wedding. A group of older women asked my son how he was doing and if he liked our new home, location etc (changes due to Brian’s death) they went on to ask, “how is your mom?” now four, he replied, “she’s great…she loves dirty, dirty, men.” Thankfully, I was just around the corner after hearing the roar of laughter and was able to explain that I in fact love…Dirty Jobs and well…have yet to find a dirty man! ha
Thank you for the years of laughter as well as the education you provide about hardworking people all across this great country. I can’t wait to laugh some more!
Sincerely,
Autumn Letendre
Kids say the darnedest things, don’t they Autumn? I’m sorry about your husband. I’m happy the show has helped you out. It’s one of my favorite shows.
