If it’s one type of episode I dislike, it’s those “Best of” clip shows that contains someone’s favorite moments. On Tuesday, Discovery is airing what would appear to be a clip show, but they promise 99% of the video has never been aired before. This has me really excited. Mike’s always been one to crack a joke. And judging from the preview clips below, I think we’re in for a pretty good episode.
Dirty Jobs‘ “Dirty Little Bits” episode airs on Tuesday, January 31st at 9pm EST on Discovery Channel.

Meredith Vieira’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire series has another celebrity-studded month of programming coming up in February. Among those competing for charity are Mike Rowe and the Hillstrand brothers from Deadliest Catch.
February 2 – 3, 2012: Johnathan and Andy Hillstrand, brothers and cast members from the highly-rated Discovery Channel series “Deadliest Catch” will appear as a two-person team on Millionaire and will donate all of their winnings to the Seattle Fishermen’s Memorial. The fund is dedicated to promoting safety in the fishing fleets and easing the burdens of the families and friends of fishermen/women lost at sea. Johnathan and Andy are captains of the ship “Time Bandit.” Their often treacherous travels on Alaska’s Bering Sea during the crab fishing season are documented for the hit television show which returns for a new season in April.
February 27 – 28, 2012: Mike Rowe, creator, executive producer and host of Discovery Channel’s Emmy-nominated series “Dirty Jobs With Mike Rowe” will appear as a contestant to try to raise money for the mikeroweWORKS Foundation. Formed in 2008, Mike’s website and foundation support and promote the skilled trades and serve as a “PR Campaign for Hard Work.” Mike’s on-air companion for his Millionaire appearance was Andrew Reisinger, a mikeroweWORKS Foundation 2011 Tools Scholarship recipient. The scholarship provides funds that are used to purchase tools that the recipient may need upon graduating from trade school. Tune in to see if all of Mike Rowe’s various life experiences will prepare him for his appearance as Millionaire contestant!

Tonight on Dirty Jobs, Mike Rowe gets on all four and learns how to act like a cow. He learns everything he can about the cow’s bladder as the bladders will be used in the Mardi Gras festivities. The bladders go on floats to keep evil spirits away.
After seeing those four clips, I’d have to say it’s a pretty unusual thing to do with an animal organ, but I suppose it’s just as well we use as much of the animal as we can.
Tune in to Discovery Channel tonight at 9pm EST to catch Mike Rowe banging on some cow bladders.

Friday afternoon, it was announced that Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe would join a National Geographic production which tells the story of President Abraham Lincoln’s assassination and what impact it had on the world.
Tony and Ridley Scott are going to produce the two-hour documentary of Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination that Changed America Forever, which is based on Bill O’Reilly’s New York Times best-selling book with co-author Martin Dugard.
Mike had this to say regarding the project: “As a closet history buff for most of my life, this is what you might call a ‘dream project.’ It’s an honor to participate, and I’m grateful to National Geographic and the Scott brothers for the opportunity.”
National Geographic’s press release didn’t state what Mike’s specific role will be, but judging from Mike’s vast portfolio of work, I’d be surprised if it’s not the narrator for the project.
When National Geographic Channel announces an air date for Killing Lincoln: The Shocking Assassination that Changed America Forever, I’ll let everyone know.

I’ve been very busy and haven’t had time to keep up with some of the reminders, but it’s Tuesday, so that means “new Dirty Jobs night!”
Tonight, Mike Rowe heads to Mobile, Alabama to work with an old school barber and learn some of the tricks of the hair cutting trade. Then he stops by the Ostrom Road Landfill in northern California to spend the day working as a landfill operator.
Coincidentally, I just got a hair cut yesterday afternoon. I’ll be watching that segment closely.
