As I battle a nasty cold, I bring good news for fans of Dirty Jobs. Discovery has a nice run of new episodes going right now and tonight is no different.
Mike has his work cut out for him as he heads to Sault Saint Marie, Michigan, to work with the Soo Locks maintenance crew. Discovery was kind enough to put up a video preview of tonight’s episode at http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/dirty-jobs-soo-locks-technician/
You don’t often see many tense moments on the show. The idea of falling into freezing cold water isn’t one the guys were too keen on by the looks of it.
Dirty Jobs airs Tuesday nights on Discovery at 9/8pm central.
I hope everyone had a nice day on Monday. I enjoyed not having to work, but I know others weren’t so fortunate.
Discovery has another new episode of Dirty Jobs for us tonight. Mike spends the day working with the Chicken Busters to chase feral chickens and chicks to get them off the streets of Miami. Then he answers a fan letter which asks him about the familial bond often rooted within the various jobs that he works on.
Mike heads to southern California to work as an Animal Control Specialist by removing stinky skunks and other wildlife that live underneath and around peoples’ homes tonight on Discovery.
This job reminds me of Mike’s previous work with Vexcon. The crew of Vexcon were featured in at least two episodes and they ended up getting their own series on a competitive channel, A&E.
It looks like Mike will be working with a different crew tonight as he tries to handle some skunks. So much for not getting sprayed, however. Discovery released a few teases for tonight’s episode. Check them out here.
This happens to be one of the episodes I’ve been most looking forward to of late. Worm grunting looks like a pretty easy job, provided you don’t mind being on your knees for a good part of the day. Below is a teaser for tonight’s new episode.
Dirty Jobs airs on Tuesday nights at 9pm EST on Discovery.
Season five will continue on with three more episodes in this calendar year as we get to see some of those other jobs that have been hinted at in recent weeks… worm grunting, maple syrup maker, and fireworks technician, among others. Every Tuesday evening will have new episodes of Dirty Jobs for at least the next three weeks, so be sure to tune in to Discovery at 9pm EST.
In other Discovery news, MythBusters will be changing nights at the end of the year. After airing on Wednesdays for several years, MythBusters will be moving to Monday nights at 9pm EST beginning December 28th.
We’ve had a few questions about where someone could buy those Original Dirt Shirts that were featured on last night’s new episode of Dirty Jobs. You don’t have to live in Hawaii to be able to purchase these products. You can head over to their official website: http://www.dirtshirt.com
A few minutes of browsing their site turned up something quite interesting. They’re actually doing some of Mike Rowe’s products. Yeah, Mike has his own line there now.
Discovery’s Black Friday sale isn’t over. They have all sorts of DVDs, toys, and other apparel on sale. Seasons 1-3 are available for about $95 total, plus free shipping if you use the coupon code ‘FREESHIP’ during checkout.
I felt sorry for Mike and the guys last night after watching the new “Safety Third” episode. They showed some of the most boring meetings one could think of and even a few of the production workers were nodding off while going through them.
Chalk up one more person. After a long day of work, I tuned in to catch the new episode and those safety meetings put me right to sleep. No kidding. I’m a little embarrassed to admit such a thing. However, I doubt I’m the only one to have this reaction.
I think Dirty Jobs still gets the Nielsen ratings when the viewers fall asleep with the show on.
As season five of Dirty Jobs rolls on, Mike Rowe takes a look back at some of the safety equipment he’s been forced to wear over the last few years. Any regular viewer knows that Mike has a love-hate relationship with the many hard hats and harnesses he’s worn over the years. The equipment has largely done its job at keeping Mike alive, the safety equipment can also be cumbersome and in tight spaces, give Mike all sorts of problems.
Here’s a quick preview of tonight’s new episode:
Dirty Jobs airs Tuesday nights on Discovery at 9pm EST.
As we approach Thanksgiving, it’s hard to ignore the fact that this season of Dirty Jobs is slowly coming to a close. However, Dirty Jobs has at least three more episodes to air this year and Mike is sure to get a little bit dirtier in his upcoming adventures.
